Welcome to Hostelling International!

The 255 hostels in the United States and our neighbor Canada offer more than a place to stay for $9 to $22.50 a night. North American hostels are comfortable, environmentally sensitive places for budget-minded travelers--like you--to lodge for the night. Hostels are friendly, people-oriented places filled with others who are looking for the same things you are--adventure, excitement and an opportunity to discover this marvelous world.

In addition to the lowest prices anywhere, many hostels provide self-service kitchens, lockers, laundries and more. You may get the very best travel information, not only from the hostels' diverse travel libraries, but also from the people you'll meet who have already been where you're going and can give you valuable information on the best places to eat, shop and sightsee.

Hostelling International hostels provide opportunities for you to enjoy local activities and outings such as mountain biking, trekking, horseback riding, skiing, and nature walks. Hostels also offer programs and activities including architectural and historic walking tours, interpretive environmental programs, cultural events, theater outings, and uniquely North American pastimes, such as baseball games and barbecues. all of these are just another part of the hostelling experience. All across North America, you'll find Hostelling International hostels in cities and towns, national parks and cultural centers--just about anywhere you want to visit. From lighthouses and historic homes to ranch bunkhouses, each hostel has a personality of its own. All hostels have dormitory-style gender-separate accommodations. Many hostels have private rooms for families and individuals traveling together. Some hostels offer co-ed accommodations.
